Quilts selected for this program range in date from the 1850s to the mid-20th century and include a variety of styles including a Grandmother’s Flower Garden, a Mariner’s Compass, and an album quilt signed by the members of First Church. The Society has a particularly strong collection of crazy quilts and log cabin variations, some in sumptuously embroidered silks and velvets, others in scraps of cotton prints. One even has a backing made from old salt bags. The quilts represent the handwork of many generations of Windsor women, and we’ll get to know a bit about some of the quilters, too! Advanced registration is required. Cost is $5. Participation is limited to 30 people. Gloves will be provided. Please register online at windsorhistoricalsociety.org or call 860-688-3813 by Tuesday, November 14. | |||||||
